Cosplay wig tutorial - How to wear Cosplay Wigs for long haired people

Many long haired cosplayers may wonder this question:How to put the hair up under a wig so it won’t move around or show?

People prefer to just wind there hair around the head. But for very long and/or smooth hair, after a few hours the hair tends to slide towards the back of the head and drags the wig down. Now let me figure out the method which works best on some knee-length girls.

First of all, the following preparations must be done:

1.Some hairpins/bobbypins
2.A comb & wig
3.Wig cap

Pin-curls/braids should be a good choice. They can provide a great anchor for pinning the wig, making extra security. But the most important is to distribute the hair around your entire head in order to make the hair be fitted under a wig.If there’s really too much hair in one spot, that may lead a weird-shaped head, let alone the weight of the hair, which will pull the wig out of position.Just remember:Wig cap goes on top, then wig.

Secondly we mainly learn how to do pin-curls/braids.

1. Comb your hair to get out any tangles. If it’s smooth, take out a small section of hair at the front then twist it.Do it again, until it coils up,then pin the coil close to the scalp with bobby pins.Using two or more pins will be fine. For really long hair, two coils with each piece of hair may works better.
2. Continue around your head this way, making little coils and securing them, until all your hair is up.Please pay attention the coils are balanced well.
3. Once your hair is all pinned up,take your wig cap and slide it carefully over your hair. Now you can put on the wig.Lots of hair may fit the wig pretty tightly,so adjusting seems necessary. The bobby pins act as anchors for the wig.Just don’t get an itch on your scalp!

Usually people may ask another question:how to use hairpins?Unlike bobbypins, which could only l hold small pieces of hair flat, hairpins are always like the shape”U”or”V”,which make them use opposing forces to work.So you can understand that bobbypins are almost useless for securing long hair, while using few hairpins can secure the long hair in a bun.

In a word, you insert the pin through the wig into your hair underneath, then scoop upwards and finish with the pin flat against your head.Use several pins around the edges of your wig,and even a heavy wig should stay secure all day.
